Snopes has it wrong.

It may have been wrong for Snopes to put in any one viewpoint, but that viewpoint is probably what is sending people to snopes to confirm/deny something so heinous that they suspect it is an urban legend.

Anyway, in one fell swoop I will threadjack AND neatly tie Snopes back into this month's entertainment, politics.

Former President George Bush wrote that trying to eliminate Saddam Hussein during the Gulf War in 1991 would have "incurred incalculable human and political costs."

Why, oh why didn't W read his Dad's book?

He didn't need to talk to his father. He could have walked down the hall and talked to Dick Cheney, who said pretty much the same thing in 1992.

His father's analysis in 1991 or 1992 would not necessarily be valid in post 9/11. What if we continued to allow Saddam to thumb his nose at weapon's inspections and then he did actually have WMDs. How irresponsible of a leader would President Bush have been? Post 9/11, President Bush no longer had the luxury to "wait and see" like his predecessors had done. Put yourself in his shoes...
